T Junior's Nannerpus Joke

Remember those Denny's commercials with Nannerpus?

You're welcome.

So, yeah, the Nannerpus song sometimes gets stuck in my head...like whenever I see a banana. A couple of weeks ago I sang the song to T Junior, who is almost 2-1/2 and picks up stuff pretty quick. He is really good at memorizing stuff (just FYI for all you babysitters out there).

Anyway, I always end the song with, "Guess what? I like pancakes!" in a silly voice. Well, T Junior decided to change it to waffles one morning, which made me laugh.

"You made a joke, T Junior," I said.

"I made a joke?"

"Yep."

He smiled, clearly pleased with himself. "Like the bear."

"What?"

"Like the bear."

I wasn't sure if I heard him correctly. Did he say, "bear?" I decided to clarify. "Like what?"

"THE BEAR." (Saying it louder does not help me understand what he is saying. Why doesn't he get this?)

I sat there and thought about it. The bear. OH! It's in one of his books: "The bear told a joke." "The mouse laughed heartily." (A Visitor for Bear by Bonnie Becker)

"Yes, T Junior, just like the bear!" I said.

He smiled and was quiet for a few beats (which is rare)...

"I'm funny."

  4. So good! I love it, those moments you hope you never forget, the ones that we can see our children are people. Growing, changing and so much more then just our babies.

    Enjoy,
