We were, however, a little nervous about how he would do during a three-hour trip to Portland, but we timed it so that he ate and then we were off. Boxers were showing starting at 8:15 a.m., so we had to get an early start. T Junior slept almost the entire way (Mr. T sat in the back for a little while to man the pacifier), and we arrived right as the show was starting.
The night before we left, I made sure we were prepared for just about everything short of an alien invasion. This kind of advance planning is really unheard of in our household. For me and Mr. T, I packed a lunch, snacks, sodas, and I even put gas in the car the night before. We didn't have to worry about Lucy (our boxer) because she'd been in Portland with her handler since Friday. For T Junior, I had bottles, the stroller, the Snugli, the Moby Wrap, blankets, changes of clothes and socks, and plenty of dipes -- maybe too many. Ever since my diaper shortage saga I get nervous about running out of diapers. I did some diaper math before we left for Portland and I only counted five dipes in the bag! I added five more. Later that day Mr. T did his own count and discovered there were more than 20 diapers in the bag. Oops!
Even though Lucy didn't win on Sunday, we still had fun showing off our human child to all of our friends. I think T Junior had a pretty good time, too. He certainly wasn't stingy with his smiles.
at the dog show in Portland, Ore.
We were pleased with how T Junior handled his first road trip and dog show. Good thing, because there will be plenty more where that came from!

That sounds like a ton of fun! I wish I had a dog! Two cats are enough for now, but I still love dogs!
ReplyDeleteWhat about cat shows?! Just kidding. We miss our kitty, but we get see her at our friends house where she went to live. One of our dogs is allergic to cats among other things. Poor guy.
ReplyDeleteLook at that sweet little boy! Give him a kiss for me:) Do you know -- I still haven't held him? Maybe because my own hands are always full of baby, lol. We'll have to swap:) Then again ... Remember that episode of "Friends" where Monica and Chandler get their twins? And they decide to swap holding them ... but can't?
