I have a question. When are these stretch marks going to fade? I mean, my stomach looks like an abstract zebra print.
I know I'm being impatient, but I can't help it.
Before Baby was born, I actually thought this: "Hey, these stretch marks aren't that bad. They're like battle scars that will remind me of my precious baby." That was before I could see the red lightning bolts that were underneath my huge belly. After Baby was born I was a horrified when the mirror revealed what had been developing in secret. Yeah, that belly butter stuff is a sham.
I also want to know when I won't have to worry about tummy hang-over. I'm no super athlete, but I have been walking once, sometimes twice, per day with Baby (and not just to the mailbox and back). I've also been eating well*.
I'm guessing God thinks the baby will distract new moms from these issues. That's why I'm pretty sure God is not a woman.
*Compared to my third-trimester diet of ice cream and doughnuts. What? Like you ate carrot sticks and celery. Give me a break.

stretch marks fade over time but never go away completely. Mine are now a nice translucent shade, but much better than the angry, red marks they once were. I know they will be with me always, they were worth it though because I got Duncan out of it. If I had it to do all over again, I would.
ReplyDeleteI hope mine fade, but I agree -- they were definitely worth it!
ReplyDeleteThis is a great post! I can totally relate. I hate my stretch marks and my saggy belly after having a baby. Of course they were worth it, but my stomach looks like a bear clawed me up, with tons of dark purple and red lines! I really like your blog. I found you from Seattle Mom Blogs. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Ashley! The bear claw comparison is perfect. So glad you visited and like the blog. :)
